All classes will be held at Oklahoma City University and have a limit of 25 participants per class. Classes are approximately 90 minutes long and there are 2 sessions offered for each class (10am & 1:30pm). Participants may dine in the OCU cafeteria for $5 per person or bring a picnic lunch to eat on campus. Healthy snacks will be provided during the classes. This class is hosted by the Japan America Society of Oklahoma. After an introduction by Dr. Hu, students will watch "On A Paper Crane: Tomoko's Adventure." A question and answer session will follow and students will be instructed on making an origami peace crane.
This class is taught by National Board Certified Art Teacher, Mikel Ibarra. Students will watch The Day After Peace 32 minute version created by Peace One Day. After a question and answer session the students will reflect on their own plans for peace within their community, school, home, and self. The workshop will conclude with the students receiving instruction and making 2 pinwheels for peace. One of their pinwheels will be installed on the University Quad and one will go home as a reminder of their commitment to nonviolence.
